    Jarecki Confirms Informers Film!

The rumor of a Nicholas Jarecki directed adaptation of The Informers first surfaced in May of 2005, but it now appears to be on the verge of being realized. In an interview with CHUD.com, Jarecki talks about his film about James Toback [thanks to Frank for the tip] called Outsider and when asked about future planned projects he has this to say:
In the fall I'm going to direct a new film called The Informers, which I've written with Bret Easton Ellis, based on his best-selling book of the same name. We wrote this very crazy, multi-character, Short Cuts/Boogie Nights type movie that takes place in 1983 in Los Angeles and is about a rock star and a movie studio president and his wife and his mistress and a vampire and a kidnapper.
Jarecki also talks about the process he went thru to get Bret on board with this adaptation. This should be an interesting project to follow. Because The Informers is easily Bret's least recognized novel, I wonder how many casual Ellis fans will be drawn in to a story that they may have skipped previously.
