    More Interest In Lunar Park

    Variety has a bit of Lunar Park film gossip in a story about the opening of Denzel Washington's Deja Vu. Apparently Adam Goldberg is in negotiations with Ellis to get the rights to make a Lunar Park film and Val Kilmer may end up with the lead role.

    This is a bit strange, since last we heard, Palm Star had the movie rights and it looks like they still have Lunar Park as an active project.

    Film details taken from the Palm Star website:

    * Written by: Bret Easton Ellis
    * Screenplay by: TBD
    * Directed by: TBD
    * Produced by: Kevin Scott Frakes
    * Executive Producer: Stephan Paternot
    * Synopsis: Imagine becoming a bestselling novelist, and almost immediately famous and wealthy, while still in college, and before long seeing your insufferable father reduced to a bag of ashes in a safety-deposit box, while after American Psycho your celebrity drowns in a sea of vilification, booze, and drugs.

    So we've got a Producer and an Executive Producer, but no Director and no screenplay. From where I sit, that means they are a loooong way from actually having a film.

    Maybe Adam Goldberg is talking with Ellis because the Palm Star rights expire in December (December 5, 2005 was the date of the official announcement)?

    Oh Gawd!! I hope Val Kilmer does NOT play the main character, he is such an fat ugly and talentless slob. He should never make films again. I think Bret Easton Ellis should play himself.

    I found this trailer on youTube this evening suggesting that the film is in process and scheduled for release in 2009. Any further info on this. The clips themselves don't really give much away.

    Seriously! I don't think Kilmer fits at all. No way! I agree... The only character to play Ellis is Ellis.. But I wouldn't hope on it

    Has anyone seen "I love your work" by Goldberg? Personally I think it is an excellent film and I think, even if Kilmer was in the film, it would be good.

    I would've had no problem with Val Kilmer... i think he made some good flicks for the last 5 years (Wonderland, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang).

    And i could actually imagine him playing BEE. Or Ben Affleck......just joking.

    I dont know actually bout Kilmer. he might fit in pretty well. Never thought about him with connection of Ellis characters. Robert Downey Jr would be of course much much better choice. Or who was that guy who played in High Fidelity? I always forget his name.

    I thought they already made this into a movie? Wasn't it called "Chucky?" Or the "Shining" or any number of shitty B-horror movies? Love Ellis, but I hated this book.
