The Informers Film Is A Go
Wow. 2 weeks ago, I was pretty sure there wouldn't be many updates to this site until The Canyons got closer to reality. Then we had the The Frog King news, and today - The Informers gets a greenlight with Gregor Jordan set to direct and production to begin this summer.
Nick Jarecki, the original director attached to the project and the co-writer of the screenplay along with Ellis, will get Executive Producer duties. Here's a note that Nick sent out regarding the project:
Dear Friends,As many of you know for over two years Bret Ellis and I have been hard at work on our film THE INFORMERS. Nothing about it has been easy as many of you who've listened to our stories can attest.
I'm pleased to announce that we are currently moving forward to production. This will hopefully be the first of many exciting news items soon to come.
Thanks to everyone for their support on the quest to realize a great film.
Nick
I've actually managed to get my hands on this screenplay a few months back and really liked what I saw. I had pretty much resigned myself to the idea that the project was dead, so this is great news!

No spoilers, but can you confirm that the screenplay you read was set in the 80s?

Yep, 3rd paragraph of the opening page reads:
A party in the backyard of a Bel Air mansion. 1983.
And just to squash the inevitable requests. No, I won't post more excerpts, and no, I can't send you the screenplay.
