Auditioning For The Informers
Suzzane Ford writes about her experience in auditioning for The Informers: Part 1 , Part 2.
Its pretty funny because until the day of her scenes being filmed, she didn't even realize what the film was or who else was in it. She was under the impression it was a low-budget comedy/horror film set in the 1980's.

Negative Review of The Informers
The first harsh review of The Informers: The Informers Tries and Fails Hard.
So when I tell you that The Informers, the latest adaptation from the work of author Bret Easton Ellis, is one of the most self-indulgent, stylishly overcompensating and poorly executed films I've seen in years, you should be able to believe me. Put into an even simpler context, The Informers is undoubtedly on its way to being one of the worst movies of 2009. It was, without question, an abysmal experience.
Ouch. Anybody seen the film yet and care to share your thoughts. Even if its not a great movie, I doubt its as bad as this review makes it out to be.
Update: Another negative review. Its also being called horrible, a chore, frustrating, unfortunate, and disaster.
Update 2: An actress from the film, Suzanne Ford, talks about the reviews.
Update 3: At least this writer is honest in revealing she doesn't like Bret's books as a reason she dislikes the film. I wonder how much of the negative reviews are from people who just don't like Ellis' novels.
Update 4: A couple more tidbits in this USA Today article about Sundance.
Then there were two outright failures: Billy Bob Thornton starred in both of them. First came Manure, a surreal comedy from the Polish brothers about 1950s-era fertilizer salesmen that caused a lot of walkouts and painful silence during the post-screening Q&A. Then came The Informers, an adaptation of a Bret Easton Ellis short-story collection about decadent Los Angeles scumbags.Thornton didn't show for the premiere and neither did Ellis, leaving director Gregor Jordan to stand alone as he practically apologized for the film. "I fully expect some people are going to freak out about this film," he said. "It's more about mood than it is about plot. ... I'm not going to say have a good time, but I hope you find it entertaining."

NY Times Talks Up The Informers
The NY Times has an article about The Informers film.
In Mr. Ellis's account, Mr. Jarecki first conceived the idea of carving a movie from "The Informers," a book of interlocking stories that was largely written in the early 1980s, but first published in 1994. The two eventually wrote a screenplay of 150 pages - much too long, by Hollywood standards - that included among its subplots a tale about vampires who appear, in the stories, to be quite real. The vampires were dropped. The resulting film, set to be the first release from Senator, next April, now centers on a pair of fractured families, of the sort that once met for dinner at Spago.
It also takes side trips into the lives of a television newscaster, played by Ms. Ryder, and a particularly reprehensible character played by Mr. Rourke in his last role before starring in "The Wrestler," a picture that has unexpectedly pushed him toward the front of this year's Oscar race.
