Ellis Talks Film Adaptations At LA Times Event

At the LA Times Festival of Books this weekend, Bret said he thinks Imperial Bedrooms will get optioned by Fox Searchlight.

He also provided some long-overdue info on the status of the Lunar Park film (its been almost a year since I wrote anything about it).

Lunar Park is in production, said Ellis; Jude Law may replace Benicio Del Toro, who Ellis knows and likes. He was set to play the role, but Ellis thought Del Toro was miscast. Ellis doesn't see himself as Jude Law either.M

What he said about a possible film adaptation of "Imperial Bedrooms" is that Fox owns the option, but he can't imagine the studio actually producing it; he thinks the only possibility would be if the imprint Fox Searchlight did something with it. The overall sentiment, though, was that he seems skeptical about it getting made at all.

Re: "Lunar Park," he gave the impression that things could change at any time, and it sounded like he's not putting much stock in the possibility of Jude Law playing that role.

We better see Lunar on the screen by summer/fall 2011....Law would be way better than Del Toro..
